I want to cry having just read those poems. The saying that all women know someone who's been raped but no man knows a rapist is hideously true.

Regarding that despicable individual that is to lead America again, he is the patriarchy's final bout of manchild flap attacks. It may not seem it, but the world has generally had enough of people like him. Him and his ilk can't, and won't, go on forever. Patriarchy is a failing and dying system. Times do get a lot harder before they get better, but they will always get better.

Let’s hope. I just can’t help but think this could also be the beginning of the end! :/

It is the beginning of the end, for patriarchal control structures. It may not happen in our lifetimes, but it will happen.

I can’t express how much I hope this is true. For my daughters sakes!

I sincerely believe it will happen. There’s major push back from toxic masculinity at the moment what with things such as the manosphere, the red pill community, and the wig wearing nutter returning to office in America, but that’s all. It’s just menchildren throwing a hissy fit because the world is slowly changing and their way of being is becoming redundant as we move towards more equal and kinder way. It will be a slow. Large structures don’t fall quickly, but they do fall.

Really powerful poetry and words, Susannah, thank you. I think that's what strikes me most, that the US has voted for misogyny. I can't fathom it.

It’s literally is a nightmare. I have a friend who used to work for the trumps as a model and she witnessed underage girls being taken to his private suit. She left shortly after and never went back.

Mmmm. I've seen various lists of women assaulted by Trump. They mostly omit Jane Doe aka "Katie Johnson" - who twice almost sued Trump and Epstein for rape of her then just 13 year old self. She withdrew the case, and disappeared from public view, but with what we know of Trump, Epstein, and their long term close relationship, it all sounded very true to me. I still fear for what may have happened to "Katie Johnson" after 2016.... You can read about it here: https://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/donald-trump-rape-lawsuit-dropped-230770

Dear Susannah

I have hit the "Like" button - because apart from a comment, that's the only option Substack gives for support of a writer's words. There is no button here for grief, for weeping, for feeling physically sick, for wanting to cleanse the world of male violence, for wanting to apologise for the violence men inflict on women.... No button that says "Undo Hurt" or "Dissolve Pain"

You write beautifully, even on a subject as terrible and as terribly necessary as this. Most women will relate. Most men will look away. Those who don't, will do what we can to make the others see.
