Scrolling
a poem about it.
I look at my phone eyes black as pips spat out, just like unwanted seeds forcefully, so as not to get stuck in my teeth. A kitten topples anger just as easily as the butter of hate melts in a hot perfect pan. I'm scorched by the survival of a healthy cat. Echoed by a beached whale. Mouth watered by a battered flower. The boys are fighting again, sigh. Scroll bombs and missiles like catcalls. Why don’t they take up a new hobby? I wept so much I forgot how to grieve. I'm a useless witness. Then there is nature, the Statue of Liberty, a woman reclining in a garden. I'm reminded of seeds, bullets loaded and ready in devastated earth.
This poem is from a new crop of work that has come about through my poem a day group for two months of the year, April and September, we write a poem a day - sometimes its rubbish, sometimes wonderful and always inspirational.
It’s been a while, it’s hard to be bothered to post on here when I have so much real world action going on Including working on my first collection of poetry! I’m very excited about that coming out sometime soon! I have also had a major art fair which is opening up my contacts for new exhibitions, and I am doing an artists residency in less that two weeks - hoping to begin work on a small book complete with illustrations and prints. Through all that we have had our house completely renovated and to say I am in love with my bathroom doesn’t cut the mustard!! I’m besotted swooning, if I am the lady of the lake then it is my excalibur, if I am narcissus then I don’t even spare a glance at my own face, if I am Ophelia I am happy to drown!

Good things are afoot! I wish for good things for you too.
If you want to make my life sing with joy buy me a coffee or drop a few pieces of silver into my tip jar!…..

The pips and unwanted seeds image gives the opening a sharp, tactile bite.
So glad to read your work again!
